Two men have been reported for drink driving, after they allegedly crashed their cars on two separate occasions in Whyalla over the weekend.
It’s understood a Ford ute crashed into a tree while attempting to do a burnout just after midnight on Saturday 27 September on Davison Street in Whyalla Norrie.
Neither the driver, nor his passengers were injured in the collision.
A 27-year-old man underwent a breath test, allegedly recording a blood alcohol reading of 0.259 – more than five times the legal limit.
He was reported for drink driving, driving without due care and misuse of a motor vehicle. He was also issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
Later on Saturday around 1:15pm, a silver station wagon hit a tree on McBryde Terrace in Whyalla Norrie.
The 49-year-old driver allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.167. He also sustained a minor injury to his hand.
He was reported for drink driving and misuse of a motor vehicle, and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence. His vehicle was also impounded for 28 days.
Both drivers are expected to front court at a later date.
