A Romanian man has been arrested for deception offences around Streaky Bay.
It will be alleged the 32-year-old approached motorists claiming he needed cash for fuel, offering gold jewellery in exchange.
The man was stopped at Merghiny on the Eyre Highway on Sunday, with police seizing his car and a large amount of cash.
He was arrested and fronted court in Ceduna on Monday.
It follows reports of similar offences occurring in Snowtown, Cowell and Streaky Bay during the past few days.
A second vehicle is believed to have been involved in a scam at Cowell on 8 November.
The silver Ford Everest station wagon has Victorian registration 2BF4AR, and was occupied by a male and female.
