The Wiggles have issued a firm public statement after a viral video featuring Blue Wiggle Anthony Field sparked backlash from parents and child safety advocates.
The clip — posted by musician Adam Hyde, known professionally as Keli Holiday — appeared to show Field and fellow cast member Dominic Field dancing behind Hyde as he lip synced to lyrics referencing ecstasy.

The video, uploaded to TikTok and Facebook, promoted Hyde’s new single Ecstasy. In it, Hyde can be seen gyrating in a towel before cutting to footage of Anthony and Dominic Field dancing during a separate moment at the recent TikTok Awards. Hyde then performs in front of them while miming the chorus: “Hey girl, come on dance with me. You and your pocket full of ecstasy.” The caption read: “The Wiggles get it.”
The clip remained online for roughly 24 hours and reached more than 92,000 views before Hyde removed it amid mounting questions from media outlets.
The Wiggles Say Footage Was Edited “Deceptively”
Following intense criticism, The Wiggles moved quickly to distance themselves from the video and made it clear they did not approve its creation.
In a strongly worded statement, a spokesperson said the children’s entertainment group was blindsided by the upload and described the edit as deceptive.

The spokesperson explained that while Hyde is a long-time friend of the group, the video was put together independently using unrelated footage from their performance at the TikTok Awards.
“Our performance at the TikTok Awards was family-friendly and fun, and this video was edited together separately and without our awareness.”
The group added that the situation had caused “distress” for families who rely on The Wiggles’ reputation for safety and positivity, noting they “deeply value the confidence families place in” the brand.

The original clips of Anthony and Dominic Field were filmed earlier this month when The Wiggles appeared on stage with Hyde during the TikTok Awards. Hyde’s girlfriend, media personality Abbie Chatfield, also joined the performance, playing the bongos as the men danced and played bagpipes.
The awards-show moment was innocent and upbeat — but the version uploaded online was later merged with Hyde’s ecstasy themed track to promote his new single.
While the video has been deleted, the controversy has underscored how quickly content can spread online — and how easily artists can be pulled into unexpected publicity storms.
For now, The Wiggles have reiterated their commitment to providing safe, educational entertainment for children and families both in Australia and worldwide.
