WYCS is a vibrant, responsive client focused service that empowers young people, individuals and families on the Eyre Peninsula to implement changes enabling access to housing, training and healthy community participation, leading to better outcomes for young people in our community.

WHAT WE DO

West Coast Youth and Community Support (WCYCS) has three main departments which provide services to the Eyre Peninsula:

Homelessness Support Service

  • Case Management

Provides client lead Case Management to those who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at threat of becoming homeless aged 15 and older. The goal of the service is to support the client in identifying concerns and barriers regarding their living situation and to aid them in resolving and overcoming those concerns and barriers, walking alongside the client to obtain and maintain long-term accommodation.

  • Youthaven- Crisis Accommodation

Youthaven is a Youth Crisis Accommodation facility for young people 15-17 years of age. We provide emergency accommodation and an emphasis on life skills, learning to be independent and family reunification if possible.

Provides:

  • After-school drop in space at the Youth Hub on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays
  • Targeted Programs into schools and community groups
  • School Holiday Activities including bike riding, fishing, sandboarding and other indoor and outdoor activities
  • Extra-curricular events outside of school hours
  • Specialised after hours outreach for community engagement
  • Friday night Basketball
  • Provided to Young People aged 10 to 25

Strong Families, Strong Communities

Provides free, holistic and strength-based Case Management support to families with the aim to aid in building a safer, healthier, and happier family and to enhance community and cultural connections.

Provided to families who:

  • Have adolescents up to 17 years with complex trauma
  • Are culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
  • Identify as ATSI
  • Are young parents
  • Have infants

Community Connections

Supports people to increase their independence in the home and build stronger social and community connections

For people aged 18-64, or 18 to 49 for ATSI Peoples, who are not eligible for Federal Government programs such as NDIS and My Aged Care.

Priority will be given to:

  • ATSI Peoples
  • People from diverse cultures for whom English is not their first language
  • Unpaid Carers
  • People who are financially disadvantaged
  • People living in disadvantaged locations and communities

Mentally Fit EP- Across the Eyre Peninsula

Mentally Fit EP aims to promote mental fitness in our local community by partnering with local services and businesses.

The program empowers people to take charge of their lives by educating, reducing stigma and up-skilling community members, which is done through workshops, the MFEP+ME Podcast, community forums, guest speaking roles, courses, events and campaigns.

AOD Counselling

Provides one-on-one Counselling to individuals and their families affected by Alcohol and Other Drugs. In addition, The Healing Circle Day Centre offers a group therapeutic model for people with identifiable alcohol and/or other drugs dependency.
