Cummins Trek 2019
Sun 26 May 2019 11:08 am to 11:08 am
In 2012 and 2014 Ebony Newman, organised and participated in two horse treks, the first from Cowell to Cummins, and the second from Wudinna to Coffin Bay. Almost $38 000 was raised and donated to the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service as a result of these two events.
In March, participants in Cummins Trek 2019 will ride from Cowell to Port Lincoln (via Cummins). Over 5 days (March 20 to 24 2019), the group of ten full time and 4 part time horse riders will ride approximately 250 km, raising money for Mentally Fit EP, a locally based program developed to foster mental wellbeing on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
Each full-time rider is required to have their own support person, vehicle, insurance, two horses and the associated tack, feed, safety and camping equipment. There is a great deal of preparation required for such a trek; physical, emotional and financial.
It is the aim of Cummins Trek 2019 to spread the positive mental health message as far and wide as possible and are in the process of contacting TV, radio and print media seeking assistance in promotion and coverage of Cummins Trek 2019.
If you would like to contribute to promotion of Cummins Trek 2019, sponsorship or the fundraising campaign in any way please contact the Trek group via their Facebook. Sponsors generosity will be acknowledged on social media, in printed materials regarding the Trek and auction, on vehicles involved and clearly displayed wherever a function is held.
The Cummins Trek team aim to arive in Port Lincoln between 3:30 to 4:30pm on Sunday March 24 and will end their 2019 at the Makybe Diva statue.
