The Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board is asking locals to keep an eye out for Boneseed – an invasive pest plant with yellow daisy-like flowers.
Port Lincoln landscape officers have located infestations of Boneseed on the Lower and Eastern EP, which is a cause for concern because it has the potential to invade a huge range of soil types, rainfall areas and ecological communities.
The Landscape Board say each petal from its flower turns into a seed that remains viable for five years, and each plant is capable of producing up to 50,000 seeds per year.

The weed is flowering now, and under the Landscape Act, landowners are obligated to control Boneseed on their properties.
