South Australia’s leaders joined together with local leaders in Port Lincoln today for The Advertiser’s inaugural Bush Summit.

After its success in New South Wales, the agenda-setting and policy-shifting event has been rolled out nationally.

Some of the big names in attendance included South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, Senator for South Australia and Shadow Minister of Health, Aged Care and Sport Anne Ruston, and Minister for Planning, Housing and Urban Development and Trade and Investment Nick Champion.

The event was hosted by well-known South Australian tourism advocate Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, who also led a discussion between three Port Lincoln students about how to retain youth in the region.

Key points of discussion throughout the summit included growing tourism, attracting and retaining skilled workers, repairing regional roads, investing in internet and phone connection, and cutting red tape to get housing on track.
