Employment opportunities and cheaper lifestyles draw metro residents to the regions

Mobility in Australia is at its highest point in five years, with more people in major cities opting for regional life.

The Regional Movers Index of data shows Capital-to-regional migration has risen 7.9% – with Port Lincoln exhibiting the second-strongest growth in the 12 months leading to March 2023.

Livingstone in Central Queensland had the strongest capital-to-regional growth during that period, followed by Port Lincoln and Donnybrook-Balingup in Western Australia.
