The SA Agritourism Sector Plan was recently released, with the South Australian Tourism Commission setting an ambitious target for the state.
The SATC plans to grow Agritourism visitor expenditure to $295 million by December 2025.
Australian Regional Tourism defines agritourism as experiential travel that connects people to products and produce – commonly achieved through a farm experience.
For the purpose of the Agritourism Sector Plan, a farm is defined as an area of land or water where agricultural processes take place to harvest or create food, crafts or related products.
Primary Industries and Regions South Australia, alongside Regional Development Australia, have recognised six key regions renowned for producing their own specialised experiences – one of which is Eyre and Western for its aquaculture, agriculture, mining and tourism industries.
