SA Power Networks are reminding residents to keep safe around powerlines, with figures revealing the Eyre Peninsula had the highest number of on-farm incidents involving electrical infrastructure over the last two years.
There have been 20 local incidents since the start of 2021 involving farm machinery hitting powerlines and poles, including a sprayer last week.
Head of Corporate Affairs at SA Power Networks, Paul Roberts, says understandably everyone is keen to get the crops in, but in the rush they can potentially put themselves and others at life-threatening risk.
He said when a vehicle comes into contact with powerlines, you should contact SA Power Networks on 13 13 66 and do not move from your vehicle until it is safe to exit, unless there is some other emergency.
