In a move that benefits regional communities, the Federal Government is investing $3 billion in Australian pharmacies.

This comes not long after the move to introduce a 60-day dispensing policy, which sparked fears about sending regional pharmacies bankrupt.

Many community members and leaders raised concerns that the change wasn’t thought through, including our local member for Flinders Sam Telfer.

“We heard directly from a pharmacist here in Port Lincoln, in Cummins, in Cleve, in Kimba, in Tumby Bay, and these changes really weren’t well thought out, Mr Telfer told us last year.

“There’s going to be significant costs which will end up either costing our businesses, costing jobs within our communities, or ultimately at some point it will be costing us as users of that service.”

Nationals leader David Littleproud says he’s pleased with the new funding, after standing shoulder-to-shoulder with pharmacists.
