The State Government has announced a long-term commitment to the maintenance and repair of our local jetties.

An extension of their initial $20 million package will be part of Thursday’s State Budget, with $5 million to be allocated per year from 2027 onwards.

CEO of the Infrastructure Department in South Australia Jon Whelan says they’ve responded to calls for more assistance.

“The requests from – not only communities, but local government – we’ve put more money on the table, and this Government’s now stumping that up again to fast-track urgent repairs that are needed to get these facilities up and running again or continue with their life,” Whelan says.

The additional funding is a strong sign of commitment to a beloved part of our communities.

“I’m confident that this Government’s committed to making sure these assets are maintained, making sure Council contributes to it as well where required.

“Where requests come in, the Government will commit money to make sure these assets go well into the future.”
