Locals Encouraged to Watch Out for Imported Seafood

In the lead-up to Good Friday and the Easter weekend, Eyre Peninsula residents are being warned that the seafood they’re buying might not be what they anticipate.

Figures suggest around 65% of seafood consumed in Australia is imported with a lack of strong labelling laws meaning many consumers are in the dark about what they’re eating.

Head of the Fair Catch Campaign, Cat Dorey, says that could be hiding cheap substitutes and putting our local industry at risk.

She says residents should always ask where the seafood comes from and how it was caught before they buy.
