New figures shed light on Port Lincoln crime crisis

Port Lincoln recorded the most serious criminal trespasses in regional South Australia from October to November last year.

The Seafood Capital also came in second on the overall offences list with 349 – just behind Port Augusta’s 394.

Shadow Police Minister Sam Telfer has expressed concern about a crime crisis, saying some of the most violent crimes are occurring in Port Lincoln and Port Augusta.

Police Minister Joe Szakacs says $81.8 million has been committed over four years to recruit an additional 189 police security officers.

SAPOL is encouraging residents to take preventive actions, such as installing CCTV, using alarms, securing windows and doors, and concealing valuables.
