Regional flights with Rex Airlines are reliable for the long-term according to Senior Lecturer for Tourism, Hospitality and Events at La Trobe University, Doctor Paul Strickland.
He predicts the Federal Government will provide support.
“The Federal Government has total control, which is 51 per cent of the company, Doctor Strickland says.

“They would be propping them up and supplying the – in my opinion – essential services to these regions.
“Access to hospitals, education, even tourism – it all needs to be subsidised if they’re not doing well, and they have done well in the past so there’s no reason why the government shouldn’t prop them up.”
