Emergency response skills will be put to the test in Whyalla this weekend for the 2023 South Australian Mines Emergency Rescue Competition.
The competition will see participants undertake several scenarios requiring fire fighting, first aid, vertical rescue, hazmat, and more.
There will be food and drink available for observers throughout the carnival-style event, along with a Royal Flying Doctor Service simulator plane and emergency response equipment to look at.

Road closures for the event will be put in place from 2pm today.
