Streaky Bay SES volunteers are now better equipped to respond to marine emergencies, with the arrival of a brand new $130,000 rescue vessel.

The 5.5-metre rigid hull inflatable boat, fitted with the latest navigation, communication and safety technology, was officially handed over last week by Emergency Services Minister Emily Bourke, SES Chief Officer Chris Beattie, and Volunteer Marine Rescue SA Manager Darryl Wright.

It is the first vessel of its kind in the area and will help SES crews respond quickly to a range of incidents, from broken-down vessels to extended surface searches.
