Tumby Bay Council are continuing to address the town’s childcare shortage by petitioning Ministers and Shadow Ministers at State and Federal levels.
The Council says Ministers appear to believe the problem will improve with increased government funding providing up to 90 per cent rebate for families living in areas with available childcare.
Tumby Bay Council have pointed out there is not adequate childcare in the area, so parents won’t benefit from the rebate.
Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey and the Federal Shadow Minister have acknowledged the increase will not benefit Tumby Bay, and the Rural Care model needs updating.
Member for Flinders Sam Telfer recently addressed Parliament saying the problem will not go away and it is creating an emergency situation in our region.
