The Tumby Bay National Trust Museum is celebrating a remarkable achievement, receiving the prestigious 2024 merit award for exceptional volunteer service!
It’s part of the Bernadette Bean SA Records Management Service Excellence Awards, which acknowledges those dedicated to the stewardship and innovation of collections.
The judging panel praised the commitment of the museum’s volunteers for their hard work in cataloguing, digitizing, and preserving an extensive array of local historical records and artifacts.
The dedicated team has indexed more than 9,000 records of local students and their families, dating back to the 1880s, scanned over 120,000 names from district newspaper clippings, and catalogued around 6,000 significant historical items within the museum’s collection.
