Work is underway at a key intersection along the Eyre Highway in the West Coast, helping to create a safer journey along an important freight route.
The upgrades at the junction of the Eyre Highway and Micky Free Lawrie Drive, 34 kilometres west of Ceduna, is being funded through the State and Federal Government’s $297 million Roads of Strategic Importance initiative.
The work will include construction of a protected right-turn lane onto Micky Free Lawrie Drive from the highway, widening the aprons on the adjacent Trowbridge Road and resurfacing sections of the highway around the intersection.
In a statement, State Minister for Regional Roads, Geoff Brock, said an upgraded intersection leading to Koonibba will improve safety for users of the Eyre Highway and residents of the community.
