The meeting, organised by local citizen Diana Mislov welcomed around 130 residents keen to discuss the plans.

Key topics discussed by attendees were the council’s approach to Stormwater Management and saw a number of community members voice concerns around how the project is set to be implemented, with a firm desire for local contractors and local knowledge to be used in design and construction, along with the project's current scope.

The Flinders Theatre and Baptist church was another key point discussed at length, with the audience hopeful of being able to encourage retention of the buildings, voicing concern over the economic viability of the proposed 50 seat boutique cinema.

Ms Mislov said of the event ‘I think it went really well, with a good cross section of the community from older and younger voices, and everyone got the chance to be heard.’
The event has also seen the initial steps in the creation of an action group, with over 30 expressions of interest noted on the day.

Whilst not in attendance, Council urges members of the public to have their say in writing with deadlines for submissions closing this friday.

To do so, written submissions can be made to City of Port Lincoln by email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
