Regional GPs to Support Patients with Drug and Alcohol Problems

GPs throughout regional and rural Australia are being offered additional training to support patients living with alcohol and other drug use problems.

The Federal Government is providing $7.9 million for the nationwide initiative at a time when many are struggling with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doctor Hester Wilson from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners says substance abuse remains a significant issue in many regional communities.
