Local Streaky Bay residents are being urged to join the SA Ambulance Service as ambulance volunteers.
With new options to join the service as Ambulance Assistants, the service is inviting interested locals to join them at training sessions every Tuesday at 6pm at the Streaky Bay Ambulance Station.
In a statement, Streaky Bay Mayor, Travis Barber, says he is calling on the community to sign up as a volunteer with the ambulance service.
"We’ll never know when we or a family member will require such a service and volunteers are the only way we will see the provision of a sustainable ambulance service to the region," Mr Barber said in the statement.
"The level of training and programs provided by the SAAS to volunteers are second to none and not only could you be saving a neighbour’s life, it’s also a great way to become further integrated with the community."
The SA Ambulance Service and the Ambulance Employees Association have been approached for comment.
