Eyre Peninsula residents may soon be able to develop their leadership skills in response to drought, with applications opening for the Future Drought Fund’s Drought Resilience Leaders Program.
The program gives farmers and regional communities an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge through training and mentoring programs that aim to build drought resilience.
The Eyre Peninsula is one of seven regions across Australia targeted for leadership development in the 11 million dollar Federal Government program.
In a statement, the Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia, David Littleproud, said now is the time to build leadership capabilities with drought conditions easing across much of the country and they need to get prepared before the next drought inevitably comes.
