The District Council of Tumby Bay is inviting the State Government to co-invest in a local jetty upgrade.
With the town hosting up to 7 cruise ship visits with up to 100 passengers each this summer, the jetty is currently not in a condition to allow large cruise ships, nor smaller vessels to tether and unload passengers.
The council has offered to provide up to one million dollars of the 3-point-5 million dollars required for the repair works and is inviting the Government to make a contribution.
In a statement, Tumby Bay Mayor Sam Telfer says with recent tourism opportunities in the town, significant refurbishment was essential to ensure the jetty’s ongoing use into the future.
