A Port Lincoln quarantine facility is being investigated by SA Health, to allow for a rapid response to a COVID-19 outbreak.
SA Health has issued a tender that is seeking companies to manage facilities in regional centres if an outbreak occurs.
In a statement, SA Health says they have plans and processes in place to manage COVID-19 patients in regional and remote hospitals across the public health system, and are ready to treat and care for COVID-19 positive patients where required.
They say the vast majority of COVID positive people will be treated in the home via virtual care, with only the more vulnerable, approximately 10 percent of cases, requiring care in a quarantine facility.
SA Health says they expect only 5 per cent of cases will require hospitalisation.
