Generations of footballers will be celebrating the Boston Football Club this weekend, as the Tigers hold their 50th anniversary in Port Lincoln.
A gala evening will be held tonight at the Port Lincoln Race Club, featuring past and present players and members, certificates of appreciation for outstanding service, the induction of the inaugural legend award and the announcement of a special 50 year team.
The Tigers will launch a commemorative 50 year book and officially open an Honour Room at Poole Oval tomorrow, with the team then taking on Tasmans, their first opponent in 1972.
Vice President of the club, Tony Baj, says football will be the winner tomorrow.
"Tasmans were the first team we played, but it's also the only team we beat in a grand final. We're hoping history repeats itself and Tasmans play their part on Saturday and let the record books reflect another win will come our way," he said.
