Sixteen projects have received grants of $2.17 million to improve the infrastructure of the state’s waste industry, creating over 48 new jobs.

The funding, offered by Green Industries SA, is from a four-year $26 million investment of waste levy funds in programmes that will increase the capacity of recycling systems.

Three of the projects to win funding are based on the Eyre Peninsula. The District Council of Elliston will receive $70,000 for a Resource Recovery Centre at Elliston.

The District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula will get $32,250 for a mobile baler at Cummins transfer station.

The District Council of Streaky Bay has been awarded $16,600 for a salvage shed at the existing Streaky Bay transfer.
