Australia’s first green hydrogen power plant will be built near Port Lincoln following an announcement yesterday by South Australian Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis.

The proposed facility will integrate a portfolio of innovative hydrogen technologies, including a 15MW electrolyser plant, a distributed ammonia production facility, and a 10MW hydrogen fired gas turbine and 5MW hydrogen fuel cell, which will both supply power to the grid.

Hydrogen infrastructure company Hydrogen Utility™ (H2U), will work with a German-based electrolysis and ammonia specialist to deliver the project estimated to cost $117.5 million.

Mr Koutsantonis said that approximately 30 construction and 30 ongoing jobs will be created through the project.
