Last night The Bendigo Bank Port Lincoln Art Prize Opening and Awards night took place at the Nautilus Art Centre, with five winners announced.
Mayor Brad Flaherty hosted the event and said he was amazed at the amount of local talent.
The ‘$5000 Bendigo Bank Major Prize’ went to Emma Fuss for her painting “SALLY”.
Emma is a freelance artist with a graphic design background.
She said her piece was a painting of her dear friend sally, who had modelled for her.
She said she liked that she was able to capture the expression on her face as “day dreaming”.
Her final piece was the result of a series of sketches she had drawn and turned them in to a beautiful painting.
Emma said “Winning the prize was a massive confidence boost for me and I would really like to expand as an artist”
She also thanked everyone for coming on the night and that the event was of quality.
The ‘$1000 Highly Recommended Prize’, supported by the City of Port Lincoln, was awarded to Tod Romanowycz for his piece “JUST ANOTHER STILL LIFE”
The ‘$500 ‘Call me The Breeze Local Artist award’ went to Dave Trengove for his piece “DOING IT TOUGH”.
The ‘$500 Rotary Port Lincoln Youth Award’ was awarded to Deklan Males for his piece ‘FAMILY MOB’.
The $100 “Port Lincoln Arts Council Highly Commended Youth Award” was awarded to
Kynan Hirschausen his piece titled ‘PORT LINCOLN SHARK EGG’.
The ‘$500 People’s Choice Award’ is yet to be decided.
