A woman has been arrested following an assault in Port Lincoln this week.

About 7.50pm on Monday, March 11th police were called to a business on Liverpool Street following reports of an assault.

Upon arrival at the address, police spoke to the victim, a 34-year-old Port Lincoln woman. The victim was treated at the Port Lincoln Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is known to the victim and this was not a random attack.

Following an investigation about 3.20pm on Thursday 14 March police located and arrested a 41-year-old local woman.

She was charged with assault cause harm and bailed to appear at the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on 16 April.

Officer in Charge of the Eyre Western Local Service Area, Superintendent Paul Bahr, was disappointed with the nature of the incident and that it occurred in a public place in front of children.

He said “The trauma experienced, affects not only the victim but also bystanders, including children and others who came to victim’s aid. Police will continue to display a zero-tolerance approach to incidents of violence and disorder will not hesitate to ensure that those believed responsible for such incidents will face Court.”
