$240 Million Transmission Line Project for the EP

Port Lincoln’s electricity supply network will be upgraded with ElectraNet providing the region with a new $240 million transmission line.

Local residents and businesses are set to benefit from Transmission Company ElectraNet’s project to increase capacity and replace aging infrastructure that was built in 1967 throughout the region.

After receiving support from the Australian Energy Company Regulator, work is set to begin early next year on the line that will run from Cultana to Port Lincoln

ElectraNet chief executive officer Steve Masters says the upgrade would mean a removal of the current constraints and would see benefits from a more low-cost energy from existing wind farms on the Eyre Peninsula.

More plans are set for the region with future developments on the EP.
