The Eyre Peninsula Recreational Fishing Committee is calling for public support to open the Tod Reservoir on Lower Eyre Peninsula to recreational fishing.
The committee have established a petition to gain community support on the movement to increase the diversity of fishing experiences on the Eyre Peninsula and provide an alternative when conditions on the coast are unsuitable.
EPRFC spokesperson Shane Hodgens who runs Tackle World Pt Lincoln says, opening of the Tod Reservoir will also be a great tourism attraction for those outside of the Eyre Peninsula as well as those that live in the region.
Mr. Hodgens said, "the Tod Reservoir is an important resource that is currently under-utilized and recreational fishing in that area is a perfect fit."
He encourages people who support the proposal to sign the petition which has been distributed to a number of businesses across the Eyre Peninsula and Tackle shops across the state.
Anyone wishing to sign the petition can do by heading to Tackle World Port Lincoln, Spot On Port Lincoln, Port Lincoln Boat Supplies and Seamasters Port Lincoln.
RecFish SA, the Peak Body for Recreational Fishing in SA supports the call by the EPRFC and believes that Tod Reservoir is an excellent opportunity for recreational fishing on the Eyre Peninsula.
