Workers and residents on the Eyre Peninsula residents are being encouraged to find out where their superannuation is being invested and if it includes the gambling industry.
Figures show Australians are the biggest gamblers in the world per capita, losing $23 billion each year of which $14 billion goes through the pokies.
Doctor Stuart Palmer from Australian Ethical says many workers would be unaware their super could be helping to fuel a range of financial and social problems.
"We know problem gambling is a problem regionally and that many super funds are using our superannuation money to contribute to that problem, so one thing all local works can do is check whether their super savings are supporting the gambling industry and ask yourself if you want to switch companies." said Palmer.
