Two men have been airlifted to Adelaide with serious injuries following a head-on crash on the Lincoln Highway this morning near Whyalla.
Just after 6 am on Friday 17 May, a van and utility collided on the Lincoln Highway at Middleback Range, about 20kms west of Whyalla.
The drivers of both vehicles, a 49-year-old man from Port Lincoln in the van and a 27-year-old man from Whyalla driving the ute, were trapped in their vehicles for more than two hours before emergency services could free them from the wreckage.
Both men have been airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with multiple injuries, which are not considered life threatening.
The Lincoln Highway was closed to all traffic for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene. The Highway was reopened to all traffic at 10.30am.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
