Firearms Stolen from Rural Property

police news

Last week Port Lincoln and Tumby Bay Police began investigating the theft of two firearms stolen from a rural property at Tumby Bay between May 12th and June 4th

The firearms are described as a Squibman pump-action shotgun and an Anschutz .22 calibre bolt action rifle.

During the course of the investigation, police have located two illegal firearms which are not connected with this offence.

A 20-year-old man from Tumby Bay was arrested on 5 June in connection with the location of one of the firearms and has been charged with possessing an unregistered firearm and possessing a firearm without holding a licence.

He has been bailed to appear in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on 9 July.

Enquiries regarding the second firearm that was located are continuing.

Police would like to remind those who lawfully possess firearms of the importance of maintaining security of the firearms in compliance with firearms legislation at all times.
