On Wednesday night the Tumby Bay Street Art Festival was awarded as the 2019 Best Street Art festival at the Australian Street Art Awards that was held in Queensland, giving the small community some recognition on a national scale.

The Festival in April saw 11 street artists from across the globe gather in Tumby Bay painting the town’s walls.

Thousands of visitors joined the festival over the three days to watch artists create their masterpieces and enjoy what the local community had to offer.

Tumby Bay Mayor Sam Telfer says the Tumby Bay Progress Association entered the festival into the Australian street Art Awards and it was very priding to receive the award.

Telfer said, “A festival like this has added a depth of culture to our community which we didn’t have before and has given people more of a reason to visit the region.”
