City of Port Lincoln and Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters invite the community to celebrate Australia Day
with an Australia Day Community Breakfast to be held on the Port Lincoln Foreshore on Sunday 26 January 2020 from 7am to 9.30am. From 10am the official Australia Day proceedings will commence with a Flag Raising Ceremony and the National Anthem, followed by the Citizenship Ceremony and presentation of the Citizen of the Year Awards.
This year will be the final year that the wonderful Dragons Abreast team will be assisting with the breakfast.
The Port Lincoln Little Athletics Club will also assist with the preparation and service of the breakfast. A gold coin donation is kindly asked for the breakfast with the proceeds to be shared between the two community groups.
Port Lincoln will have an opportunity to welcome twelve new citizens to our community with a Citizenship Ceremony at the main stage area.
Mayor Brad Flaherty said, “It is a great honour to be welcoming twelve new citizens who have chosen Port Lincoln as their home. Australia Day is such a special day and I hope that if you can, come down to the foreshore this Australia Day and join in the celebrations”.
Around 10.45am our Australia Day representative, still to be confirmed, will be giving the Australia Day Address followed by the presentation of the Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards. As announced late last year the Australia Day Citizen of the Year recipients will be acknowledged and the winners presented with their awards in front of their fellow community members. The awards winners are:
Citizen of the Year – Emma Pedler
Young Citizen of the Year – Tyrene Gardiner
Community Event of the Year – Passionis Productions
“Council would also like to thank in advance everyone involved in this year’s Australia Day event and to congratulate our award winners, and look forward to celebrating Australia Day with you all,” said Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Rufus.
