Eyre peninsula residents are being urged to sign up to the Australian Organ Donor Register as new figures reveal the powerful impact it can make in our community.

Research showed more than 120 lives were saved in the past year, with the number of South Australians consenting to organ donation reaching record levels.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said that there has been a 44 per cent increase in donors since 2018 in South Australia, with more families making the decision to donate their loved one’s organs.

Last year a total of 1,683 Australian lives were saved through organ transplants, along with a record number of Australians benefiting from eye and tissue donations.

The South Australian registration rate is 70 percent, which is the highest in the country compared to the national average of 34 per cent.

Minister for regional health, Mark Coulton, says it takes only a few moments to sign up and he's urging LOCALS to register and discuss their decision with family.
