The Australian Salmon Fishing Competition has seen significant interest from anglers from across the state with 189 entrants in June alone.
Out of the total number of entrants Lock Wells has been the most popular location with 118 weigh-ins.
Other weigh-in locations include Talia with 33, Mount Camel with 20, Sheringa 15 and 3 at Walkers Rock.
So far the heaviest fish caught came in at 3.722kg in week one’s mystery weigh in.
The Salmon comp has brought in a variety of tourists into the Elliston District with those traveling from Whyalla, Cowell, Port Augusta, Adelaide and the Yorke Peninsula.
The annual fishing comp runs from June through until August every year with local anglers encouraged to sign up and have a crack at winning one of the cash prizes up for grabs.
