The streets of Port Lincoln will today see a grocery store on wheels that will provide free food for families struggling.
The decked-out Mobile Food Hub will arrive today and is a part of its visits to regional centres across the state.
The regional initiative is the product of an ongoing partnership between Foodbank SA, and the RAA.
The truck will provide a range of items such as bread, fruit and vegetables for free for community members in need.
RAA spokeswoman Sally Warner says “This service will assist people and families in need of food relief, who currently have little or no access to welfare services,’’
The Mobile Food Hub is set to visit Port Lincoln once a fortnight on Thursdays.
People experiencing financial hardship can find a list of the welfare agencies they can apply for food vouchers at www.foodbank.org.au/RAA
Volunteers are also being sought to staff the food truck when it visits Port Lincoln. Those who can help are urged to register their interest at https://www.foodbank.org.au/SA/fbsa-volunteer-form/?state=sa
