Local residents in the District Council of Cleve are being encouraged to sign up for a free Mental Health First Aid course.
The course set to run in early October will teach people the different types of mental illnesses and will provide hints and tips around how to deal with a mental health situation.
Course Coordinator Angela Harris says the course will give people the confidence to have those tough conversations and what to say when speaking to someone who is not ok.
“When we did the course 12 months ago we were trying to target some businesses to not just farmers, not just wives, because you know you're agronomists and stock agents are the ones that pop into people's houses and on the farm's and stuff and start chatting and it'd be great to get those type of business is involved because they're the ones that actually going to see the farmers probably really in the element and be able to support that person and then direct them to the to the right people to where they need to go to get help” said Ang.
Spots are limited following COVID restrictions with a maximum of 10 participants.
