There are calls to make sure big tech companies are doing more to protect local residents and families when they're online.
It comes as a new survey reveals less than a quarter of Australians believe sites like Facebook, Instagram and Google are doing enough to protect users on their platforms.
The top online risks identified in the survey were scams and fraud, bullying and trolling, as well as misuse of personal information and images.
eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, says the internet is a vital tool for regional Australians and they should feel safe when they're online.
