New research suggests people across the Eyre Peninsula who are living with obesity aren't accessing the care they need soon enough.
More than two-thirds (67%) of Australian adults are currently classified as overweight or obese with people in remote and rural areas among those most-affected.
However, the study found a misconception amongst healthcare professionals that people with weight-related issues aren't open to discussing it, or motivated to make changes.
Obesity Consultant, Doctor Georgia Rigas says it's critical local residents and healthcare professionals have those conversations sooner.
