SAPOL Scammers

police news 5

Locals are once again being reminded to be aware of scammers that claim to work for South Australian Police.

Following recent incidents, callers have claimed to police officers saying there has been an identity theft and victims should expect a call from the Australian Tax Office.

Another phone call is sure enough made by the scammers claiming to be from the ATO and requests personal details.

Scammers are using technology to make it look like the calls originate from a police station by manipulating the caller identification.

Locals are being advised that SAPOL do not make calls on behalf of the ATO and not to be fooled by the tampered caller ID.
