Coffin Bay Open Garden

Fiddlestix garden 16 x 9 2

Coffin Bay garden Fiddlestix has been selected by Gardens SA to open their garden up to the public for a weekend.

The non for profit organisation Gardens SA hunt out unique gardens from across the state and open them up to community members to explore for a small fee.

Gardens SA Dianne Michalk said “The people that go to these gardens are keen fellow gardeners which attract likeminded people.

“It’s a really good community activity and gardening is obviously a really healthy outdoor activity, and with people not being able to travel at the moment with the virus people are taking more interest in gardens.

On October 24th and 25th of October from 10 am until 4:30 pm Helen and Mike Bowyer will be opening their quirky upcycled garden Fiddlestix to locals who share a passion for gardens.

Helen says she’s spent years working on her garden using found objects and recycled materials to make her garden as unique as possible but says it’s also good for her physical and mental wellbeing.

“I love my garden, it’s extremely important to me for my mental and physical wellbeing I guess you could say.

“It’s very stressful and it’s a lot of work to open the garden but we’ve been to other open gardens and we love going to visit other people's gardens and it’s really nice to walk around see what they’ve done and get some ideas.

“There aren’t any other open gardens this Season on the Eyre Peninsula so I think we are the only ones.

“So yeah there’s a lot of people that have said to me they are looking forward to coming and having a wonder. Said Helen.

Fiddlestix garden is located at 58 Holly Rise, Coffin Bay.
