Police have issued almost 100 expiation notices during a state-wide traffic operation around school zones.

Operation Return to School was conducted on Monday 12 October and Tuesday 13 October, during peak drop-off times of 8am to 9am, and peak pick-up times of 2.45pm to 3.45pm with a high visibility police presence to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians around schools.

Police visited 257 schools across South Australia, with 98 expiation notices issued for various offences including speeding, using a hand-held mobile phone while driving and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Three drivers were caught with drugs in their system, and they may face further penalties once their drug sample has been forensically analysed.
