Local households and businesses are being urged to reach out for help if they're still struggling financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It follows encouraging figures which reveal the number of deferred bank loans across the country has fallen nearly 70% since the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of deferred business loans has also fallen significantly.

CEO of the Australian Banking Association, Anna Bligh, says while the figures are a positive sign, locals are encouraged to reach out for support if they need it.
