LITERACY: YOUR BIGGEST BUG BEARS

This week we saw Valentine's Day take all the coverage, but Valentine's Day itself was shared this year with the international day of book giving.

We chatted a bit about that during the week, with memories of reading to kids (or by your parents), and a chat with Dancing With The Bull author Matthew Simon.

I find this to be particularly important when considering lieracy levels and how certain "words" have made their way into the modern lexicon.

They may not even be words, but misused words too... or even mispronunciations (And no, I don't consider ch-ah-nce a mispronunciation!!!).

I, myself, am not as prolific a reader as I used to be, or I would like, but I still appreciate the written word, as both an educator and a reminder of the proper use of the English language.

After all, to be in favour of one side over another would be biased, not bias... as biased is the action of showing bias...

You can see where I'm going here, can't you?

You prob-ly thought I brang my missunderstandings with me to this artical, and you'd be write...

And now my head hurts after writing that last sentence!

So, quite simply today on the international day of book giving, what is the one word or phrase, when used incorrectly, which drives you to madness?
