Tax and spend and tax and give and tax...

With the international flight caps only being slightly raised this week, the federal government has decided to offer loans to Australians stranded abroad to get home.

Given this is the result of decisions taken by state governments to restrict the number of people arriving, it seems a little harsh to me that people should be given loans to cover this rather than be given straight out grants across the board when the only flight options appear to be business class.

It seems completely unreasonable to slug Australians for hotel quarantine AND to expect us to pay top dollar for flights when we’re forced into it by government decisions.

Which probably explains the latest GM EP exclusive, with their next advertising campaign to feature this spot.

It makes sense doesn’t it?

Am I wrong here, or should the federal government cover all the costs being forced on Australians trying to return from overseas by state governments?
